      Is it a burning smell? That would indicate a winding failure, and there is no lubricant solution for that. We would advise replacing the motor drive assembly or even investing in a new grinder.

    AVOID the Moccamaster KBT. Their carafe shatters and Moccamaster's warranty does not cover it. Had it for 2 years using it on weekends, shattered yesterday. Customer service's response was almost insulting. "The borosilicate glass lining can be easily damaged when it comes into contact with anything abrasive. The carafe is not covered under warranty. We are happy to offer 20% off and free shipping on a replacement. An invoice with a discount applied has been sent. Once completed, you will receive tracking information." If the carafe so delicate why sell it? The only thing my carafe came in contact with was: hot water, coffee grounds, dish soap and an Ikea soft bristle dish brush. And gall of their customer support believing I would repurchase another carafe if there is no warranty… I have no nice words to reply to that… For a $340 coffee maker, I expected much better.

    Does it need a water pump?

    • @primacoffeeequipment
      @primacoffeeequipment 16 днів тому

      There is an internal pump that generates pressure for extraction, but you do need a way to move water into the machine. Generally this is done by connecting to the municipal water supply, which is under pressure. If the machine is drawing from a water reservoir (like a 5 gallon jug or something) then yes, you would need to buy a pump to move the water from the jug to the machine. Check out Caffewerks pump/accumulators on our website if you need one!

      We muddled strawberries, blueberries and blackberries with sugar/water and strained it to make a killer simple syrup. We used a syrup pump in a jar to dispense it (I think around 6-7 pumps?), topped with cold sparking water and a few ounces of heavy cream. It was SO good.

    One clarifcation we'd like to make: Pitcher rinsers will function under a wide spectrum of water pressures, and they do not need to be matched to a pump/accumulator system with a specific or correlating GPM rating. Virtually any pump/accumulator system will be compatible with virtually any pitcher rinser out there.

    So the lab sweet can single dose espresso correct? and you recommend single origin? Why's that?

    • @primacoffeeequipment
      @primacoffeeequipment 22 дні тому

      Absolutely, the Lab Sweet can be used as a single dose espresso grinder. Better yet, the 807 Lab Sweet ESP version is optimized for this purpose. We don't necessarily recommend single origin, but it is common for cafes to use their primary espresso grinders for espresso blends and a secondary grinder for on-demand single-dosing of other coffees. Single origin coffees are just one example.

    Important note: because you fill this before every use, there will be a ton of air in the chamber. You ABSOLUTELY need to purge a lot of steam to get rid of that air for your first drink or you’ll get huge nasty bubbles. Trick is to fill a cup of water and purge in the water until it gets hot, about 20-30 seconds. Then bring the pressure back to 3 bars and you’re good to go for 2 or 3 drinks in a row.
